Better Days Farmville

Neighbors Loving Neighbors:
Furnishing Hope and Homes in Our Community

About Us

Starting over is hard and Better Days Farmville is designed to help. We are a growing community that believes everyone deserves a safe functional home. We provide furnishings for people who are starting over in life for whatever reason.

We do not assist with paying bills or obtaining a place to live. We also do not assist with single items needed such as a couch, dresser, or table except for beds for children and senior citizens.

Our Organization

Better Days Farmville is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit composed of kind-hearted, hard-working, and generous volunteers. The volunteers help in different ways—some organize donations, some donate money, some donate household items and furniture, some help us through word of mouth, some help us meet families, and others fundraise. All of these acts of love come together to create Better Days Farmville.

Who & How

Not Limited to Farmville

Better Days Farmville is not limited to Farmville residents (or even Prince Edward County residents). We are happy to help any family/individual starting over anywhere in the Piedmont Health District.

If You Need Assistance

How to get help?

You cannot request help for yourself. We need someone to verify your needs and be our contact person. They can request help for you through our online form. That person must be willing to arrange for at least two able-bodied people to meet us, load the furniture, and take it to you. You are also welcome to come.

That person will be who we communicate with to obtain a list of needs, arrange when we meet, be there when we meet, and take the donations to the person in need.

If I cannot get all the furnture I need in one trip, will you meet me again?

No. As we furnish 2-4 homes a week and Better Days Farmville are 100% by volunteers. We can only meet each family once.

Does Better Days Farmville provide everything listed as needed?
  • We do our best. It is according to what we have donated at that time. We generally can provide 80-95% of what is requested.

Does Better Days Farmville help with finding shelter, paying bills, or giving money?
  • No, we do not do any of these things.
Does Better Days Farmville help with single item needs like a couch, table, washer, etc.?

We do not. We only help when people are starting from nothing. We have found there are a lot of people that need one or two things. This depletes our storage and ability to help those that need everything.
